Cancer-Causing Foods

Every person has cancerous cells. The only issue is that they have not developed to be deadly (yet). This development can be somehow attributed to our own choices. Health experts have agreed that 60-70% of cancers are preventable through simple dietary and lifestyle changes.

An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply. These are some of the foods that you should stop consuming so as to halt the growth and development of cancerous cells:

Genetically modified foods have become part of our everyday lives. However, did you know that they have been linked to different types of cancers? Stay away from GMO’s as much as possible.

It is no secret: sodas are nothing other than a step closer to the grave. They are of no nutritional value and more to their hazardous contents, is the horrifying process the body undergoes after taking in soda. They are full of sugar, dyes and other chemicals. These chemicals deplete your body of essential vitamins and minerals.

Non-Organic Fruits and Vegetables:

Conveniently grown crops are treated with different pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals. All of these are harmful to our health.

Hydrogenated Oils:

Trans fats are highly processed oils which have been doctored through the addition of hydrogen, for the purposes of increasing their shelf-life.

Click here to understand how seed oils are produced:

Hydrogenated oils have been discovered, by the Harvard School of Public Health, to overwork the immune system, leading to inflammation. They therefore have been linked to chronic diseases, heart diseases, strokes and diabetes.

Processed Foods:

They are high in nitrates and nitrites. When consumed in large quantities over time, they increase a person’s risk of cancers, mostly stomach cancers. This is because they are heavily loaded with unhealthy ingredients, such as sugars, white flour, food colors, oils and additives.

Canned Foods:

In hard plastics and resins, Bisphenol-A, also known as BPA, is commonly used to coat the metal cans. BPA is also used in numerous plastic products and dental composites. This chemical has not been banned from use, yet it has been linked with serious diseases, including infertility, diabetes, obesity, and YES, cancer. So, as you go for that next can of food, unless it is labelled as BPA free, walk away from it!

Grilled Meat:

When wood or coal combusts, some by-products are released. They are called polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH’s). When meat is grilled, the dripping fat allows the PAHs to affix themselves to the food being prepared, driving you a step closer to the exposure of carcinogens.

Smoked and Cured Foods:

Nitrates and nitrites have been used by some manufacturers to prevent food spoilage as well as enhance its flavor. Unfortunately, when these compounds are exposed to high temperatures, they change into by-products, such as nitrosamines and nitrosamides. They are called N-nitroso compounds. The World Health Organization** has actually confirmed these compounds as highly cancerous.

 Refined Sugars:

It is a medically proven fact that cancerous cells thrive on sugar. It has been discovered that sugar is linked to a number of health issues, like obesity, arthritis, unhealthy blood fat levels, low HDL levels and high risks of heart diseases, among others. This explains why cancer patients are strongly advised to cut on their sugar intake.

White Flour:

The process of arriving at white flour as the end product is quite horrifying. Conventionally grown grains are treated with fungicide, sprayed with pesticides and stored in bins coated with insecticides after harvest. Grains then undergo high-temperature thermal processing and high-speed rollers. Chlorine oxide in the form of a chlorine gas bath is used as a whitener, as well as a ripening agent. The end product is starch depleted of nutrients but high in toxins.

Microwave Popcorn:

It is a popular way of getting popcorns, but has been proven to be popularly dangerous as well. Their packaging is often lined with perfluoroalkyls, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) to prevent oil from dripping through. When heated, the chemicals are absorbed into the popcorn and when ingested, they are revealed as blood contaminants. Those who do animal studies, have found PFOA being linked to tumors in the liver, pancreas, testicles and mammary glands in rats, and a high risk of prostate cancer in PFOA plant workers.

Stay healthy!
